Are plastic and sustainability compatible?
The fact is: plastic is a key material for innovation and helps us reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is how we can effectively counteract climate change. But it is also a fact that any plastic waste in the environment is unacceptable. Plastics must be sustainable at all levels. That's why the inio one is made of a high-quality plastic called ABS.
In principle, ABS is very easy to mechanically recycle. The advantage of the plastic is that as a recyclate it still has the same properties as before the recycling process.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is an amorphous plastic made by polymerizing the monomers acrylonitrile and styrene together with butadiene. ABS is obtained either by the in-mass process or by the emulsion process. The most important properties of ABS include high impact resistance and toughness.
The good workability of ABS is due to the styrene content, acrylonitrile makes the material stiffer and increases heat and chemical resistance. The butadiene content is responsible for high resilience even at low temperatures.
ABS is processed by injection molding or extrusion.
Typical applications for ABS are :
General : Toys, phones, safety helmets
Automotive : Door panels, seat shells, radiator grille, exterior mirror housings
Household appliances : Food processor housing, vacuum cleaner parts
At inio, we firmly believe that plastic and sustainability can go hand in hand. Plastic is a key material for innovation and offers us the opportunity to effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, we also firmly believe that any plastic waste in the environment is unacceptable. For this reason, we are committed to ensuring that plastics are sustainable at all levels.
Our products, such as the inio one, are made from high-quality ABS plastic. ABS is an amorphous plastic that results from the polymerization of the monomers acrylonitrile and styrene in combination with butadiene. ABS has outstanding properties such as high impact resistance, toughness and good processability. By using ABS we can ensure that our products are both strong and durable.
A major benefit of ABS is its ability to be mechanically recycled. This means that after the recycling process, ABS still has the same excellent properties as before. We attach great importance to the use of recycled ABS in order to reduce the use of primary raw materials and conserve resources.
Our products are used in various areas. For example, ABS is commonly used for toys, telephones, safety helmets. ABS door panels, seat shells, radiator grilles and exterior mirror housings are used in the automotive sector. Household appliances such as kitchen appliance housings and vacuum cleaner parts also benefit from the excellent properties of ABS.
At inio, we are committed to making innovative products that meet the needs of our customers while being environmentally friendly. By using high-quality plastics such as ABS and by focusing on recycling and sustainability, we help fight climate change and create a more sustainable future.
